Switchgear engineering firm NOJA Power confirm the doubling of Protection Settings Groups available in their flagship RC-20 Recloser Control to 8 total.

Each of these groups has both forward and reverse directional elements, along with a corresponding Live Line protection mode which overrides the conventional settings.

This combination places NOJA Power’s RC-20 among the most versatile protection relays and Recloser Controls available.

Existing RC-20 users can upgrade to either version 2.0 or 2.1 firmware to access 8 protection groups.

The increased number of protection groups is a response to market demands for added versatility when connecting renewable generation sites, and for operation on networks with complex/varied earthing schemes.

“As Distribution Systems continue to become more complex with higher levels of automation often an increased number of protection groups is required to allow for fuse blowing and fuse saving strategies, feeders running backwards during the day due to a high penetration of solar, Summer and Winter seasons, Bush fire season and a range of other reasons to have multiple settings which can be set remotely from SCADA and Automation Systems,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O’Sullivan.
