Ukrainian utility CEK, based in Dnipro Ukraine, confirm the installation of NOJA Power OSM Reclosers to minimise outage durations for disrupted power assets.

Supported by local NOJA Power Distributor “Recloser LLC”, the utility has developed innovative techniques for installation of these reclosers, installing the switchgear to transmission network poles with underground cable connections.

“Congratulations to CEK on the innovative use of our products to increase reliability for their customers and safety for their staff,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O'Sullivan.

Pole mounted reclosers are devices used to protect and control the electricity distribution grid. This technology allows Ukrainian utilities to rebuild damaged portions of their network, while minimising outages when faults or further damage occurs,

NOJA Power’s OSM Recloser is designed for operation in harsh environmental conditions, with build options to -60 degrees Celsius. This capability ensures the Recloser’s reliability of operation throughout the Ukrainian winter.

A NOJA Power OSM Recloser is also a modular designed product. The device has modular spares which can be changed in the field, so units which are damaged can be rapidly brought back to service through minor part replacement without the need for specialist tools.

Conclusion

NOJA Power’s OSM Recloser product is in service in over 105 countries worldwide. The rugged performance of the unit provides network reliability in challenging operating environments, and in this Ukrainian installation the OSM Recloser is limiting outage sizes and improving power system reliability.
