NOJA Power OSM Reclosers Commissioned for Advanced Loop Automation Scheme for Saudi ARAMCO’s Jafurah Project

NOJA Power is proud to announce the successful commissioning of a sophisticated loop automation scheme for Saudi ARAMCO's Jafurah gas development project, marking a significant milestone in international grid automation.
The project involved the integration of two distinct 34.5 kV ring systems using NOJA Power's OSM Reclosers, equipped with advanced IEC 61499-based automation and peer-to-peer communications. This innovative approach enabled seamless coordination between the two networks, enhancing system reliability and operational flexibility.
To support remote control and real-time monitoring, the scheme deployed IEC 61850 MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification), allowing centralized visibility and control of the entire loop system. This integration ensures rapid fault isolation, improved restoration times, and optimized power flow across the interconnected rings.
“This project showcases the power of distributed automation and the flexibility of our IEC 61499 platform,” said Neil O'Sullivan, Group Managing Director of NOJA Power. “We're honoured to support Saudi ARAMCO in their mission to build one of the world's most advanced energy infrastructures.”
The Jafurah field, one of the largest unconventional gas developments globally, demands robust and scalable electrical infrastructure. NOJA Power’s solution not only meets these demands but sets a new benchmark for intelligent grid automation in the region.
NOJA Power continues to lead the way in smart grid innovation, delivering reliable, secure, and sustainable energy solutions to utilities worldwide.
