In a significant move to support Ukraine amidst the ongoing war against it, specialist Australian-made electrical equipment from NOJA Power, a leading manufacturer based in Brisbane, Queensland, will be provided to restore Ukraine’s energy system.

The equipment is funded through a contribution by the Australian Government to the European Union’s Ukraine Energy Support Fund and was specified for procurement by the Ukrainian Government and its Minister for Energy Herman Galushchenko.

The contract including local installations is valued at $10 million AUD.

The equipment supplied are NOJA Power OSM® Reclosers – intelligent and remote controlled high voltage circuit breakers. They are used to protect and switch the overhead distribution network remotely and automatically. They improve power reliability, while allowing utility engineers to operate the distribution grid remotely without travelling through dangerous environments.

NOJA Power, a leading manufacturer of medium voltage electrical equipment serving 113 countries worldwide from its manufacturing campus in Brisbane Australia, is renowned for its innovative and reliable products. The company's OSM® Recloser and EcoLink® technologies are set to play a pivotal role in enhancing the stability and efficiency of Ukraine's power distribution network.

NOJA Power CEO, Neil O'Sullivan:

“We are honored to contribute to this vital international effort and are grateful for the Senator Hon. Penny Wong’s support for Australian manufacturers. Our equipment is designed to improve network reliability and safety, and we are confident it will make a significant difference in Ukraine's energy infrastructure.”

“These NOJA Power OSM® Reclosers will be used to rebuild electricity networks and restore electricity to millions. They will enable remote control in areas heavily affected by land mines, reducing the risk for utility workers. Remote control over restored high voltage feeders will also enhance the safety of workers currently restoring electricity in Ukraine.”

Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko:

“Russia has specifically targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to put pressure on everyday Ukrainians. They have resiliently withstood this brutal tactic and this equipment from NOJA Power will further support their resilience. It is also testament to the wise investment of Minister Wong and the Australian Government in the EU’s program of support for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and to the effort of Ukraine’s Minister for Energy Herman Galushchenko to specifically procure NOJA Power’s equipment.”
